"The Gold Foundation Facilitators really made What’s the Buzz work. They got the children to feel safe & have fun. They were able to get children to engage & focus for an hour. Amazing people!"
"Ultimately, the Gold Foundation means the world to me, as it is responsible for much of my development. Without it, nobody would have been there to understand and support me, and I would have been miserable for most of my life. "
"The Gold Foundation is without a doubt the organisation that has made the greatest impact on my ASD daughter's life and I am very grateful - especially to the founders!"
"I believe every child has the right to access programs and support that could make the difference between a happy, fulfilling life as part of the community, or one spent on the ‘outer’ and never quite fitting in. "
"The Gold Foundation is great because I get to see other people with Asperger syndrome, who are like me and think similarly to me"
"The Gold Foundation provides my son with company and friendship of peers without judgement but with acceptance and understanding in a nurturing caring environment. The Gold Foundation promotes a true sense of community and feeling of belonging for children who find social situations confusing and overwhelming. My son is able to participate in a social setting free from anxiety that is present in other social settings. Friendship has also blossomed between the parents providing a camaraderie with others who truly understand the unique and quirky nature of Aspergers"
"Each week I feel a wonderful sense of achievement when I see the kids ‘bounce’ through the door all smiles, eager to catch up and socialize with their new friends. The children love their time spent at the Gold Foundation always leaving just as effusive. Watching the children’s social skills and confidence evolve and grow throughout the program fills me will pride and joy"
"Life is not about the breaths you take but the moments that take your breath away’, for me, that’s when I see happy kids!"
"It’s easier to get out of bed in the mornings and get through the weekend."
"I know each day is a day closer to the next session and that keeps me going"
"The Gold Foundation operates like a well-organized business but feels like an extended family."
"Why do we need the Gold Foundation Centre? We posed this question to a group of 14 to 16 year olds at the Centre and their collective response was:"... read more
It’s quite simple….. if we didn’t have the Gold Foundation Centre Asperger children would not have anywhere to go and we rely on the Centre for assistance and help to overcome our difficulties. It’s our life line to cope in our everyday lives and it’s made us better people at school, home, everywhere. We would not be where we are today without the Gold Foundation.

Great things always start with a personal journey, some courage and one single step forward. For me it started when I was in search of programs and a Centre for my own child who was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. I discovered quickly on this journey that there was nothing available in South Australia and found this utterly unacceptable, particularly at a time of great need in my life.
So I decided to take that step and start my own group, open a new Centre and bring the community together and I did this by knocking on doors, sharing my story and searching for funding to start the first pilot group for children…….and that was back in 2007 with only 8 children. I wrote our dreams on a paper napkin in a coffee shop and that was the moment when our dream became our goal.
Since then we have managed to establish the first centre for children with Asperger Syndrome, deliver more Social Skills Programs than any other volunteer organisation Australia and reach more children and families than we ever imagined possible. We estimate we’ve reached thousands of people through our work.
I have been fortunate and blessed to be supported by an inspirational group of people who form the Gold Foundation Team and who have equally volunteered their time for the growth and development of this organisation. I acknowledge and thank these incredible people who give their time, expertise and love to the Gold Foundation.
All South Australian children deserve to really enjoy life and fully participate in and contribute to every aspect of community life. We feel that the Gold Foundation is an avenue for these children to be part of this.
I believe every child has the right to access programs and support that could make the difference between a happy, fulfilling life as part of the community, or one spent on the ‘outer’ and never quite fitting in.
In closing…… I say ‘thank you’ the young person who inspired the launch of the Gold Foundation, and who continues to inspire me today……………that’s my beautiful son Connor. He reminds me each day that “Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts” Winston Churchill
We will continue to serve the children in South Australia and open our doors at the Gold Foundation to all who need our support.
