I am writing to share an update about the next step for the Gold Foundation. Over the past six months, many families have been reaching out, seeking information on our programs and new home. I appreciate from first-hand experience and my own journey how important it is for our children to have a place of belonging and continue their engagement with our programs. It was for this very reason I launched the Gold Foundation nearly 13 years ago, because it didn’t exist when I needed it the most. Therefore, I do understand.
Thankfully, after an enormous amount of work the Gold Foundation is in a position to help hundreds of children, now and in the future. We exist for this simple reason and we love what we do.
The past 6 months have been challenging for all of us; children, families and staff. The fact that you all still engaged is a testament to the successful holistic program we deliver underpinned by the personal service and care from our staff. I want to personally thank you, our staff and the community for the support, patience, encouragement and kind words during this time.
Put simply, the lease at the Kirrinari Community School site at Unley expired December last year. Montessori SA was successful in securing the new lease for the whole site and the Gold Foundation was subsequently given 4 weeks notice to vacate over Christmas and January. We therefore had no access to the site in order to continue our programs.
Since then, we have worked very hard to find an exciting new centre for our children and families. As the number of children registered with us has now exceeded 600 it was important that we sourced a site which provided opportunity to expand, not just a temporary solution. This process took some time as you can appreciate. Leading and navigating Gold Foundation through this change period has led us to new partners, reforms and broader program delivery.
Now for some good news; we are in the final stages of launching a new centre for the Gold community. We will have detailed news about this very soon. The new site and facilities are 4 times bigger than our previous home in Unley; it’s very close to the city perimeter; our own cottage for the younger Gold children; a dedicated ‘Youth Group’ facility; themed program rooms; training rooms; sports field; outdoor recreation areas; seminar rooms; parents waiting rooms.
As part of our expansion of services we will be running programs 5 nights a week with weekend and school holiday programs plus in-house therapy / counselling services. There will be multiple programs on offer once we re-open and a significant announcement about our new University partner for extended post school opportunities.
As a ‘thank you’ to our Gold family members for your commitment during this time we will be honoured if you could join us for lunch at our new home. This event will not be open to the public and it will give you the opportunity to experience the centre firsthand and register for the new programs and services. At this lunch, you will also have the opportunity to meet our new partners, facilitators, consultants, mentors and Gold staff. In the meantime, we will resume our Youth Group in August following a short break in July for school holidays with further details to follow over the next few weeks.
I look forward to seeing you all again and will be in touch soon with your invite.
